X-Rays
Some parents may ask, “Are dental X-rays necessary for my child?” The answer is that radiographs (X-rays) are a vital, necessary part of your child’s dental examination. Without them, certain dental conditions would be undetected through a visual examination.
Radiographs are needed to survey cavities and erupting teeth, to diagnose bone diseases, to evaluate results of an injury, and for planning of orthodontic treatment. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends radiographs for initial examinations and at six- and 12-month intervals for children at high risk of tooth decay when the proximal tooth surfaces cannot be visualized.
Although the amount of radiation received in a dental X-ray is extremely small, we taken extra precautions to protect our families from radiation exposure. Our office is completely computerized, using the latest dental technology. We offer digital radiography for both intra-oral and extra-oral views.
